Shipping a Neo-Banking + DeFi Product in 72 Hours. IKIGAI is a financial ecosystem combining neo-banking, payments, and synthetic crypto assets on TON.

My role

  • Led product UI/UX and defined core flows

  • Worked directly with founder/engineer for real-time decisions

  • Demo video creation

Results

  • Shipped prototypes, demo-ready design within 72 hours

  • Achieved #3 in DeFi Innovation at London Hackers League 2024

❗️Not a Traditional Case Study

The client reached out to me one day before a 72-hour hackathon. They needed to turn the product vision into something clear, demo-ready, and to launch.

This project wasn’t about a full UX process. It's about making the right decisions fast, aligning with engineering in real time, and shipping something that works under extreme time constraints.

Challenge

  • No time for full research or validation cycles

  • Product vision still evolving

  • Needed to design for both Web2 familiarity and DeFi core

  • Everything had to be clear, demo-able within seconds

Goal

  • Define core product experience fast

  • Design key flows that communicate value immediately

  • Support the team in pitching a strong, cohesive story

Direct stakeholder alignment

I worked directly with the founder, who was also the head of engineer, so feedback, feasibility checks, and product decisions happened in real time.

The snapshots below show how ideas were quickly translated, adjusted, and validated during the build:

Approach: built for speed

I focused on execution over process. I referenced neo-bank and DeFi patterns, moved straight into high-fidelity with flows, and validated decisions in real time with the founder.

High-fidelity that functions as a real product

I designed complete, connected screens across sending, receiving, savings, and exchange, and walked through them live with the founder to validate quickly and make the product clear and demo-ready.

*Given the tight timeline, the workflow relied on live walkthroughs and direct adjustments with the founder, so decisions were validated in conversation rather than formal annotations.

To enhance realism and create "wow" moments during the demo, I also focused on smooth transition and key micro-interactions:

Tap confirm and send ➡️ loading state ➡️ success state ➡️ notify the friend

Tap sign up and receive ➡️ loading state ➡️ success state

I learned that strong outcome come from alignment, clear decisions, and focused execution

This project showed me that under tight constraints, strong alignment and fast decision-making matter more than a perfect process. Going straight to high-fidelity worked because the vision was clear and validation happened in real time. Next time I’d clarify what judges would value most, then shape the demo more directly around that.
